Two notable procedures that are included in almost any toenail fungus cure are filing and cutting out the infected area of the nail and removal of the nail.  Both can be done at home or at a doctor’s clinic.  The reason behind filing and cutting of nails is to expose the fungal infection as much as possible as well as bearable.  The infected toenail will receive as much of the toenail fungus cure as possible, even on the nail bed.  Debridement or removal of the infected nail can be done at a clinic or if the toenail starts to separate from the nail bed, it can be done at home.  After removal of the infected toenail, applying topical toenail fungus cure is necessary to prevent the new nail from being infected by the fungi.  Removal of the toenail does not necessarily mean the fungal infection is gone, especially if the fungi rooted itself on the nail bed and not just on the surface of the nail.  At this point, toenail fungus cure in cream, laquer or oil based solutions are recommended.  Staying away from acetic acid, bleach and other corrosive substances is a must because these will not be helpful but can be harmful to exposed skin.  And this corrosive substances will affect the fineness of the incoming nail.  Chemical substances may even make the incoming nail more susceptible to another bout of fungal infection.
